Migration to our new advanced core network
signetbreedband has developed a new core network called the Connectivity Core. As the heart of our technical operation, this infrastructure provides significantly higher bandwidth capacity and more advanced redundancy options. Additionally, the new network is engineered to handle the continuous increase in DDoS attacks.
What does this mean for you?
Since 2023, we have been conducting a phased migration of all connections to this new core network. All connections are migrated within a pre-announced maintenance window to ensure minimal impact on your services.
This page is updated continuously with new insights and answers to customer questions. If you cannot find the answer you are looking for, please contact us via the service page.
Technical changes
In essence, the functionality of our connections remains unchanged. However, some technical properties differ, which may be critical for your own monitoring setups.
IPv4 Monitoring
For keepalive and connectivity monitoring, please use the IP addresses listed below. You can configure these on your router immediately; we strongly advise doing so as soon as possible. After migration, the old gateway IP address will no longer respond to ping (ICMP) requests.
Note: Pinging these addresses is only possible from a signetbreedband connection.
Monitoring IP addresses:
- ping1.signetbreedband.nl
91.216.162.78
- ping2.signetbreedband.nl
91.216.162.79
Sophos Firewall users
If you use a Sophos firewall, additional attention is required. By default, Sophos firewalls use 'Uplink Monitoring' with a keepalive pointed at the gateway. This can cause your connection to drop after migration to the new core network. To prevent this, update your keepalive configuration to use one of the monitoring IP addresses mentioned above before the migration takes place.
IPv6 and BGP
If you use IPv6 and/or BGP, specific changes to your connected equipment will be necessary. We are currently reviewing every connection to identify where IPv6 or BGP is implemented.
If applicable, we will contact you personally via email or telephone to discuss the requirements and coordinate the migration window. For IPv6, the following (link-local) gateway address can be configured after migration:
fe80::6aab:9ff:fe15:a401
Gateway MAC address
The MAC address of our gateway will change during the migration. Please take this into account if you apply static filtering or MAC-based routing on your equipment.
